40 Leaders Under Forty

Elizabeth Hover serves as an assistant vice president and product actuary at Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company, responsible for developing, pricing and managing the profitability of the company’s full portfolio of products. In her six years with the firm, she has been promoted twice, taken leadership of a major product committee, and joined numerous strategic plan implementation groups, all while managing a growing staff. She attained her certification as a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries in 2010.

As a member of Illinois Mutual’s Supplemental Health, DI & LTC Committee, Hover assists in setting program content and engaging speakers for an annual industry seminar. She serves as a mentor in the Society of Actuaries mentorship program and chairs the Illinois Mutual Disability Income Product Committee, where she helps develop and manage the company’s individual disability income products.

Hover has been recognized for excellence throughout her career. At Illinois Mutual, she received Values In Practice (VIP) recognition by her peers, earned executive recognition for leading the implementation of a complex software solution, and has been recognized by the CEO at product launch events. During her time at Principal Financial Group, she won the Spot Award multiple times and twice received the Higher Performer Award.

As a head coach and board member of the Metamora Area Fastpitch Softball Association, Hover helps direct strategy to ensure the organization continues its mission of teaching sportsmanship, building character and contributing to the positive development of the youth. She also has served as a basketball coach and assistant softball coach with the Germantown Hills Athletic Association.

In past years, Hover has been a grant reviewer for the Heart of Illinois United Way and served on committees at both Principal and Illinois Mutual, working to ensure corporate giving campaigns met and exceeded their goals. She has also been active with Toys for Tots, a community food bank center and her church’s vacation bible school. PM
