40 Leaders Under Forty

As company president, Quintin Smith is responsible for leadership, strategic planning and overall management of the healthcare construction and design team at POINTCORE Construction, a joint venture between The CORE Group and OSF HealthCare. His background as an architect, project leader and innovator in virtual construction has made him highly regarded in the field, and he has presented at numerous conferences about leading the construction industry through technology.

Under Smith’s leadership, POINTCORE established a minority mentorship program that teaches best-in-practice construction techniques, budgeting and management to minority contractors and construction companies. He has also been involved in sponsoring the Minority Contractor Development Program at the Minority Business Development Center in Peoria, which piloted in the summer of 2020. In complement with POINTCORE’s mentorship program, he works to support its plan to establish an ongoing training program for minority, women and disadvantaged business owners as well as organizations that need to meet supplier diversity goals.

Smith believes in leading by example through volunteerism and giving back to the community. He volunteered to help build a pavilion for OSF St. Ann’s Garden of Hope and led a team from POINTCORE on its construction. He serves on the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council Board of Directors, helping to lead economic development and community growth through businesses attraction and support, and recently joined the OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois Community Advisory Board as an ambassador for its mission within the community.

In 2019, Smith was honored with the second annual Ducky Baum Award, the highest recognition one can achieve at The CORE Group, named for one of the company’s original founders, who lived an exemplary life as a humble servant leader. In his own relationships with coworkers, employees and clients, Smith embodies the principles and tenets of servant leadership. PM
