As director of corporate services at RLI, Brooke M. Miller is responsible for key governance functions including the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) program, third party management, model risk management, end user computing management and non-public information management. Since joining the firm as a senior auditor in 2006, she has held leadership roles of increasing responsibility and has been instrumental in driving key strategic initiatives that improved risk management and controls throughout the firm, with contributions spanning multiple product lines and departments.
Her strong performance, experience with corporate audit strategies, and a broad understanding of the specialty insurance industry has positioned Miller as a trusted partner at RLI. She participated in its Emerging Leaders program and is regularly asked to consult with internal groups and departments seeking to better understand and train employees on topics such as protecting personal information, right-sizing controls and process improvements.
Miller has earned a remarkable number of industry certifications, including Charter Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB), Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM), Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI). She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and has served on the Central Illinois Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors Board of Governors for nearly a decade, presenting at numerous conferences on internal audit best practices.
Outside of the workplace, Miller has displayed a strong commitment and passion for youth development and animal welfare. She has served as treasurer of the Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS) Board of Directors since 2007, making a long-lasting contribution to the organization by strengthening its accounting policies and procedures. She also volunteers at Neighborhood House and has been a Big Sister for several girls through the Heart of Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters, volunteering for its lunch buddies pilot program and recruiting several of her coworkers.
