Abigail M. Fleming is a partner at Fleming Law Office, focusing her practice primarily in the defense of civil litigation claims, including personal injury actions/complex injury defense, premises liability claims, slips and falls, willful and wanton claims, probate and alternative dispute resolution claims. She represents clients in jury trials, arbitrations and mediations, and has been trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution by the Northwestern Center on Negotiation & Mediation and Cook County Center for Dispute Resolution.

Fleming has been elected to the Illinois State Bar Association General Assembly and serves on the Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee, as well as several committees with the Peoria County Bar Association (PCBA). She received the PCBA’s Young Lawyer Volunteer Award in 2016, was named the Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee’s Lawyer of the Year in 2018, and was part of the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) inaugural honor roll in 2020.

As a volunteer for PILI and Prairie State Legal Services, Fleming provides a variety of pro bono legal services, maintaining four active cases at all times and helping to plan continuing legal education programs. She volunteers regularly with the Courthouse Help Desk for the Tenth Judicial Circuit in Tazewell and Peoria counties, assisting pro bono clients with active cases, and donates her time at free clinics for low-income clients, assisting with drafting powers of attorney and wills or with sealing and expungement cases.

A member of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria Executive Board, Fleming currently serves as vice president and sits on the Family Services Committee. Each year she travels to Washington, DC for “Habitat on the Hill,” a nationwide lobbying effort for affordable housing and for programs that support Habitat for Humanity and the United Way. Active with her alma maters, she is a member and past president of the Peoria Area Illini Club, which raises money for scholarships to the University of Illinois, and an alumni interviewer for admissions to Northwestern Law. PM
