On March 31, 2010, Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker at the 16th annual Partners in Peace Luncheon at the Peoria Civic Center. Partners In Peace is the signature event of The Center for Prevention of Abuse to raise awareness about its intervention and prevention services for children and those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse.

“We are thrilled to have Vice President Biden for our event,” exclaimed Martha Herm, executive director of The Center for Prevention of Abuse. As a senator from Delaware, Biden penned the landmark Violence Against Women Act of 1994. This law provided the funding for the Peoria County Family Justice Center—a model for protecting individuals and families through inter-agency cooperation. The Family Justice Center is a collaborative effort of prosecution, the courts, law enforcement agencies and The Center for Prevention of Abuse.

At the luncheon, the Partners In Peace Awards will be presented to recognize individuals or organizations that have worked to promote and continue the Center’s mission.

Security check-in will be at 9am, brunch will be served at 10:30, followed by the program at 11:30. Tickets for priority seating are $150/person or $1,500/table of 10. Tickets for regular seating are $75/person or $750/table, and $50/person or $500/table. Call (309) 691-0551 or visit centerforpreventionofabuse.org for more information. a&s
