Thru January 14 PNC Winterfest
Peoria Civic Center – Peoria

The third annual PNC Winterfest at the Peoria Civic Center is open once again for festive holiday fun in downtown Peoria. Skaters can enjoy the ice rink and skate under the stars, while spectators can watch the action from a heated tent with seating and refreshments. There’s a 100-foot-long ice slide for all ages to enjoy, and group skating rates and private party rentals are also available. In addition, PNC Winterfest is partnering with the Heart of Illinois United Way for the 2017 8Skate for Charity Initiative, donating $3 of every adult skate rental to one of eight designated HOI United Way organizations. January 15  Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon
Public Employees for Community Concerns | Peoria Civic Center – Peoria

Public Employees for Community Concerns will host the 26th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon featuring keynote speaker Tamron Hall. Public Employees for Community Concerns is a group of African-American City of Peoria employees who joined together to empower African-Americans and the community as a whole. The luncheon aims to bring the Peoria area together in fellowship and celebration of the life and work of Dr. King. Tamron Hall is an award-winning journalist and host of Deadline: Crime on the Investigation Discovery channel. Hall has previously served as the national news anchor for NBC News, day-side anchor for MSNBC, host of the program MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall, and a co-host of Today’s Take. She works with several nonprofit organizations that strive to end homelessness, illiteracy and domestic violence.

January 27  Winter Warming: A Toast to Creativity
The Sun Foundation | Life Together Center – Peoria

Join the Sun Foundation in celebrating 45 years of innovative programming to promote arts and science opportunities for underserved youth in the community at their Winter Warming Children’s Benefit. This event entails an evening of local artist exhibits, a silent auction, raffles, drinks and hors d’oeurves featuring recipes of celebrated artists. All proceeds will support the Sun Foundation’s Art & Science in the Woods summer camp, the Clean Water Celebration environmental classroom, and the Community Art Access granting program. a&s
