A project manager and Six Sigma Black Belt at Caterpillar Inc., Malou Cristobal leads global project teams to improve human resources and systems processes and develop new processes to increase efficiencies at the lowest possible costs. She is a trainer and guest speaker on HR issues both inside the company, through its Women’s Initiative Network, and outside the company, through the Illinois Federation of Business Women (IFBW) and National Pan-Hellenic Council at Bradley University. She serves as a mentor for interns and new hires and has been a key member of the Caterpillar African American Network.
An avid volunteer, Cristobal is the first vice president and media relations chair for the George Washington Carver Association, where she has been instrumental in working to identify sustainable programming and funding streams. A member of the Illinois CancerCare Foundation Young Leaders Board, she has participated in numerous fundraising events and chaired the Sponsorship Committee for Golfin’ in the Wild, which raised nearly $14,000 for local cancer research.
As the current president of the IFBW Greater Peoria Local, Cristobal is leading the charge to empower working women to achieve their full potential. In this role, she has organized fundraising drives for The Center for Prevention of Abuse, Children’s Home and the Support1000 initiative.
A member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority since her days at the University of Illinois, Cristobal has served as president of the Champaign-Urbana graduate chapter and the Black Greek Council. She was also instrumental in bringing the Xi Alpha Zeta graduate chapter back to Peoria, and as its president, has served as a delegate at numerous conferences and organized fundraisers for a range of worthy causes.
Cristobal was a member of the Peoria Area Shared Services Forward Core Team, helping to identify potential areas of collaboration between Peoria’s city and county governments. She serves on the Peoria Area Illini Club Board of Directors and is a six-time Junior Achievement classroom instructor and former assistant coach of the Richwoods High School Speech Team. iBi
