Dr. Zohra F. Moeenuddin is a pediatrician, newborn hospitalist and attending physician at Children’s Hospital of Illinois; director of the Pediatric Ambulatory Residency Continuity Clinic; and medical director of the Pediatric Ambulatory Clinic at Heartland Community Health Clinic.

A mentor to many, she oversees and evaluates more than 20 residents in her role at the Pediatric Ambulatory Residency Continuity Clinic, where she has been involved in projects ranging from improving mental health education in the ambulatory setting, to training physicians to provide fluoride varnish to prevent tooth decay in pediatric patients, to championing her office’s conversion to electronic medical records. She was also responsible for establishing a comprehensive curriculum for the Pediatric Residency Program, which has greatly improved resident performance.

Dr. Moeenuddin serves on more than a dozen hospital- and residency-related committees, including the Coding and Billing Committee, Pediatric Board Task Force, Clinical Operations and Compliance Committee, and Pediatric Curriculum Committee. She has participated in the Daily Steps – Walking with Doctors project, which raised more than $15,000 for Children’s Hospital of Illinois in its first year and expanded to local schools in its second year. She has also led interactive workshops to teach elementary school students about healthy lifestyles, eating and hygiene, and partnered with Helping Patients Every Day (H.O.P.E.) to create a health fair for children.

As a volunteer faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and volunteer and chaperone at the Islamic Foundation of Peoria, Dr. Moeenuddin is a strong role model and mentor for young girls. In addition to volunteering as a room parent at Wilder Waite Elementary School, she spends time assisting at an orphanage established by her father in Bangalore, India.

Dr. Moeenuddin and her husband have three children. Outside of her career and volunteer work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies and traveling. iBi
