As an independent education consultant, Nicole Renee Couri Wood uses her experience and expertise to coach, develop and motivate leaders in the field of education. After teaching with the Edison Project in Peoria for three years, she served as principal of Northmoor-Edison Primary School from 2002 to 2011, during which time the school leaped from the 50th to the 90th percentile in performance and was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.
Wood then served as executive director of leadership at EdisonLearning, training and developing school principals, administrators and leadership teams. From training leaders in traditional public schools and charter schools in the U.S. to developing ideas with leaders in the United Kingdom to serving as an adjunct professor at Bradley University, she has made an impact on education around the world. She recently worked with Wake Forest University to develop materials to prepare Chinese high school students for American universities.
A volunteer at Metamora Grade School and leader of her daughter’s Brownie troop, Wood has served on the Women’s Advisory Board and Angel Ball Committee at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, as well as the Peoria City Beautiful Board of Directors. She is a Sunday school teacher at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Metamora and an independent distributor for Xyngular Corporation, helping local residents improve their health through proper nutrition, natural supplementation and exercise.
Wood has served on numerous education committees and been recognized with a range of honors and awards from the Illinois State Board of Education and EdisonLearning, as well as the 25 Women in Leadership award. When not working to develop the next generation of educators, she enjoys photography, gardening, shopping and spending time at home with her daughter, Addisyn, and son, Ayshton. iBi
