As commercial manager at Caterpillar Inc., Tara L. Rossman coordinates marketing activities and commercial processes worldwide, developing and implementing pricing strategies to support the Job Site Solutions team and ensure the continued growth of job site sales.

She previously served as service operations representative in Denver, Colorado, and led more than 20 projects in the United Kingdom as a 6 Sigma Black Belt, delivering $12 million in cost savings. Returning to Peoria in 2008, she was a sales coverage consultant to Cat dealers in the U.S., and then parts information supervisor, leading a 15-person team that increased customer deliverable output by 150 percent. She was promoted to her current position last year.

A strong supporter of Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI), Rossman chairs the Development Committee and serves on the Community Advisory Board. She was the co-founding chair of HOPE (Helping our Patients Everyday), a group of young professionals who raise funds and awareness for CHOI, and led the first annual Fight to the Finish obstacle race, raising $42,000 for the hospital. As HOPE continues to grow and expand its partnerships with young professional groups, she remains highly engaged and inspired by its impact on the community.

In 2013, Rossman completed the Powering Up management development program, conducted jointly by Bradley University and Caterpillar. The following year, she led the planning of Caterpillar’s first-ever Women in Leadership Summit, which focused on the unique challenges that come with an increasingly diverse leadership team. Asked to continue as lead, she produced another successful event in 2015.

Active with the Society of Women Engineers, Rossman has served as a mentor for seventh-grade girls at Lindbergh Middle School in Peoria, demonstrating the opportunities for women in engineering and technical careers. In 2014, she received the organization’s Emerging Leader award, which honors women engineers who have achieved success in the workplace and the community. iBi
