Community Impact

Mission
To discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

Vision
Create a world without ALS

The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS on every front. The Association leads the way in research, community services, public education, and advocacy—giving help and hope to those facing the disease. The Greater Chicago Chapter is proud to currently serve 71 counties across the Chicagoland Area, Northern and Central Illinois, and part of Northwest Indiana.

How to Help

  • Volunteer: Our group of volunteers, Lou’s Crew, are the backbone of our Chapter. Lou’s Crew has continued to grow over the years, and we are so thankful for each and every member of this group. From help with event planning and participation, to light clerical work, we would not be able to do it if not for Lou’s Crew. We are always looking to add to the ranks! People of all abilities are encouraged to join us. Are you interested in joining? Visit our website and click “Get Involved” to sign up for Lou’s Crew.
  • Advocate: An ALS Association Advocate is a foot soldier in the battle to defeat ALS. An ALS Association Advocate is someone who is passionate about getting involved with government at all levels to draw awareness and resources to the people affected by this disease. An ALS Association Advocate is someone who is willing to step outside of their comfort zone to effect real change in the way our government responds to the needs of the ALS community. Even if you aren’t a friend, relative, supporter or business associate of a legislator, you can open doors through your outreach. As an ALS Association Advocate, you can help change the laws and policies that affect thousands of persons with ALS and their families. Visit als.quorum.us/register to get started… it only takes a few clicks!
  • Walk: The Walk to Defeat ALS is the #1 way to unite and fundraise for those living with ALS. Each year, fundraising through the Walk drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a cure for ALS. Your participation in the Peoria Walk to Defeat ALS has a direct impact on people living with ALS and their families at the local level. Through education, support groups, access to care and advocacy, we are working to defeat ALS and provide hope to people living with ALS and their families. Visit web.alsa.org/peoriawalk today!
  • Donate: Your gift will help the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter support research to find a cure for ALS and provide much-needed services to individuals living with ALS and their families. By becoming a part of the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter family and making your gift today, you will help sustain hope in thousands of people affected by ALS. Donate today at alsachicago.org/donate.
