As special projects manager for the City of Peoria, Christopher Setti provides direct assistance to the city manager. In just four years, he has moved through three demanding positions with the City of Peoria, from senior development specialist in the Economic Development Department to Six Sigma Black Belt to his current position. His performance has significantly contributed to helping the City deal with one of the most difficult budget years in its history.

Since accepting his current position, Setti has provided the staff support and leadership in identifying and crafting strategies to address a significant financial challenge of over $11 million in the City’s budget. He has effectively addressed the City Council at regular meetings and policy sessions, handled media inquiries, and drafted complex and detailed communications for the city manager. At the same time, Setti led energy efficiency studies that identified over 10-percent savings in fuel consumption and related expenses.

Using Six Sigma Black Belt methodology, Setti developed a tracking and implementation system for the City to take full advantage of applicable stimulus funding for areas ranging from law enforcement to public infrastructure. He has been the City’s “go-to” person in working collaboratively with Peoria County to address service areas of mutual interest, such as emergency dispatch, booking fees and animal control. His initiatives and work with the County help build better relationships and greater service effectiveness for the taxpayers.

In addition to his professional work, Setti volunteers with several local organizations. He is president of Whittier Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization and Vacation Bible School Coordinator for St. Paul Lutheran Church. He is a soccer coach for the West Bluff Indoor Soccer Club and the Peoria Park District, and a coach for the Peoria Girls’ Softball League.

Setti received his Six Sigma Black Belt for the City of Peoria and graduated from the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School in 2007. The year prior, he co-authored “Just Outside Chicago, There’s a Place Called Illinois,” which was published in the Illinois Municipal Review.

An outstanding individual whose work ethic is second to none, Setti provides excellent service to the citizens of Peoria. iBi
