David A.Turner is a business support manager for Caterpillar Inc., responsible for producing the monthly scorecard of enterprise metrics, group president consolidated financial reporting, and advance materials and presentations for meetings of the Caterpillar Board of Directors. A certified public accountant sought after within the company and the business community at large for his knowledge and integrity, Turner is dedicated to sharing all he can with non-profit organizations, grassroots efforts and individuals with limited resources.

Before accepting his current position at Caterpillar, Turner served the company as a senior staff auditor and audit manager. His experience included consulting and advising corporate facilities on documenting and testing internal controls, developing a risk-based audit plan, leading and conducting audits across various business models, and analysis of internal control issues.

Turner is an adjunct accounting instructor for Robert Morris College and was a technical presenter at several annual conventions for the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). He has represented Caterpillar at NABA conventions and has mentored young accountants through the organization.

Turner has been a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., an organization dedicated to the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service to the community, for 18 years. As an active member, he has held several positions at the local, state, regional and national levels, including his current position of chairman of the Board Audit Committee. He also serves as a member of the steering committee for the Caterpillar African American Network, an employee affinity group dedicated to providing mentoring, professional development and networking opportunities for African-American professionals.

While on a two-year assignment in California, Turner received a mayoral appointment as vice-chairman for the Board of Appeals and Advisors for the City of Chula Vista. He provided leadership to the team responsible for overseeing the building and planning commission.

Turner is a graduate of Bradley University’s Management for the 21st Century program and a member of the Illinois CPA Society. His technical and professional leadership has been recognized both locally and nationally. iBi
