As the City of Pekin’s community development director, Pamela Anderson is responsible for a variety of programs and initiatives designed to advance the overall health and viability of the city’s residential housing stock, funding, and administration of public works projects and public service organizations.

Anderson has worked tirelessly for her community. During her eight years with the City of Pekin, she has initiated yearly regional fair housing training with Peoria and East Peoria. Working with the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, she completed a plan to increase public transportation bus service for Pekin residents. She designed and implemented programs to meet established Department of Housing & Urban Development community goals for the low- to moderate-income population of Pekin, and organized a group of homeless-related housing and service providers to represent Tazewell County and the City of Pekin’s needs and resources.

Anderson is actively involved in many community relations projects. This work has included the drafting of ordinances, presentations to the City Council, the creation of a Human Rights Committee, speaking at AmerenCILCO Diversity Day and serving as a city liaison to the Human Rights Committee. She is currently organizing community efforts for the 2010 Census Complete Count Committee.

Outside of her career, Anderson has served the community through her work with the YWCA child care parent committee, Pekin Coalition for Equality, and Pekin Kiwanis Club. She is a team captain for the Pekin Relay for Life, and, as part of her work for the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce, has helped with the Business Expo, Peoria Area Home Show, 4th of July event and the Marigold Festival.

A Tazewell County Medical Reserve Corp volunteer, Anderson is trained and certified to lead others in emergency situations and work/plan dispensing clinics, and has completed 20 hours of Community Response Team training. She’s also been awarded the 2009 Community Partner award by Advocates for Access, the Women’s Recognition Day Outstanding Achievement Award by the Pekin YWCA, and the Norbert C. Smith Quality Award by the National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources.

Pamela Anderson has done an outstanding job managing and balancing her personal and professional lives. Each day she demonstrates strong and capable leadership. iBi
