A veteran herself, Duhon enlisted in the Army Reserve shortly after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, while an undergraduate at Bradley University. She deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, spending one year in Iraq, where she received an Army Commendation Medal for her work in logistics and convoy support, and 10 months in Qatar, where she led a team in accommodating more than 29,000 service members and civilian contractors.

During her service with the Army Reserve, Duhon earned several Army Achievement medals, a Good Conduct medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation, achieving the rank of staff sergeant before being honorably discharged. She now serves on Sen. Mark Kirk’s Veterans Advisory Board and is a member of the American Legion and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. In addition, she frequently volunteers her time and talents on political campaigns and is an active member of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Locally, Duhon serves on the executive board of EP!C, where she is a past secretary. She is president of the Delta Pi Chapter House Corporation Board of Gamma Phi Beta and a member of the Metamora-Germantown Hills Junior Woman’s Club, where she chairs the Avenue of Flags and Public Issues committees. She has also served on Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis’ Disability Advisory Committee; volunteered for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and South Side Mission; and performed at Corn Stock Theatre. A native of San Antonio, Texas, she is an amateur golf enthusiast and enjoys writing, gardening, singing and cooking. iBi
