As owner of CrossFit 309, Dorian D. Mosack is responsible for sales, marketing and all daily operations of the business, ensuring challenging programming and coaching athletes through eight daily classes. Since he purchased the company in 2013, membership has greatly increased, and the business has outgrown its original location. He also trains children through the CrossFit Kids program and started Peoria’s only boxing program for Parkinson’s patients.

For five years, Mosack served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, including back-to-back deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Among his numerous military awards, he earned the rank of sergeant, as well as the Jumpmaster and Airborne qualifications. On July 4th of this year, he was recognized locally as the Peoria Chiefs “Hero of the Game.”

Following his military career, Mosack attended Bradley University, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and served as a school teacher in Peoria’s District 150 for two years. As a volunteer for Peoria’s ELITE Youth Outreach, he helped the program get started and implanted it at Trewyn Middle School. He is also active in the Peoria Cursillo community and participated in St. Jude’s 2014 inaugural Metamora satellite run.

Through CrossFit 309, Mosack has supported Midwest Food Bank and a range of organizations committed to breast cancer research, but his true passion lies in helping his fellow veterans. For the last three years, he has organized a CrossFit competition to benefit CreatiVets, a nonprofit organization that utilizes the creative arts to support veterans with PTSD and other combat-related trauma, which has grown to become the largest CrossFit competition in the region. Through these and other fundraising efforts, CrossFit 309 has raised more than $25,000 for CreatiVets.

In addition, Mosack started a local chapter of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, working to build a community for local Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. Mosack has been married to his wife, Holly, for nine years, and they have three boys. iBi
