As a wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual Greater Peoria, Doug Shannon is responsible for the guidance and direction of his clients’ investments and financial plans and serves as a trusted leader on the management team. As recruiting field director, he recruits and mentors new financial representatives, and as director of the office’s Client Relations Center, he ensures that clients receive excellent customer service.

Shannon is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, which represents the top six percent of financial advisors nationwide. For the last four years, he has been named one of the top five young advisors in Northwestern Mutual’s Central Region, and for five straight years, he has earned the Life Impact Award for exceeding $25 million in policies issued, the Best Year Ever award for advisors whose growing practices have exceeded their personal bests, and the Achievement Award for high-level production.

The first chairperson of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois’ Emerging Philanthropists in Central Illinois (EPIC) Fund, Shannon has played a pivotal role in developing the initiative and recruiting new members. An active member of the Young Professionals of Greater Peoria (YPGP), he co-chaired the social committee from 2012 to 2013, where he planned monthly socials and helped foster a partnership with Caterpillar’s Young Professionals group to co-host an event for the Midwest Food Bank. He is a graduate of the YPGP L.E.A.P. Academy and the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School.

An active member of the Creve Coeur Club, Shannon participates in charitable activities for the likes of Easter Seals, St. Jude, Toys for Tots, the DAX Foundation and Alex’s Lemonade Stand for pediatric cancer research. In addition, he and his wife, Amy, volunteer for Kellar Primary School’s Parent Teacher Organization, where they lead fundraising efforts and help organize special events.
