Cara Burritt serves as administrative assistant to the Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences at Bradley University, the top professional staff position in the College. She provides behind-the-scenes administrative support to the Dean and for all college-wide business operations, and has been instrumental in the College’s rapid growth and development.

Burritt’s work ethic is demonstrated through a wide range of responsibilities. In addition to providing essential administrative support, she schedules and coordinates meetings and events; processes and maintains correspondence; and manages all personnel-related endeavors for the College. She also holds primary responsibility for its finances—including accounts, budgets and financial reports for the Dean’s office, five academic departments, five centers and institutes, and a number of other university-designated accounts.

This past spring, Burritt taught a graduate-level course in healthcare management, receiving rave reviews on her end-of-semester student evaluations. She also serves as building manager for Westlake Hall. Interacting daily with individuals across the university and in the larger community, she serves as the face of the College: gracious, friendly, efficient and humble.

Like her quiet leadership style in the workplace, Burritt’s community service and volunteer efforts are often unassuming and personal. From 2012 to 2016, she tutored a fifth-grade student who needed academic support outside of school. What began as a twice-weekly tutoring appointment developed into a close mentoring relationship, and she recently began tutoring the student’s younger sibling. Throughout 2014, she helped plan and coordinate a variety of fundraisers to support a local family planning to adopt two siblings from Uganda, East Africa.

Burritt holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and an MBA from Bradley University. In her free time, she performs in the Vermillion Players Theatre, Pontiac Municipal Band and Bradley University Community Chorus. She has also been a volunteer for Relay for Life, in support of the American Cancer Society; Walk MS, supporting a cure for multiple sclerosis; and the 5K for Orphans, in support of the Eastview Christian Church orphan care ministry. iBi
