Dr. Christopher Michael Couri has dedicated his career and life’s work to the welfare of pets and animals. As an associate veterinarian at Meadowbrook Veterinary Clinic, he works to provide the best possible medical, surgical and dental care, while promoting responsible pet ownership and facilitating health-related educational opportunities for clients. His clinic is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, a distinction achieved by just 10 to 15 percent of veterinary hospitals in the country.
An emerging leader in his field, Dr. Couri is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Illinois State Veterinary Medication Association, where he has been active on the Public Health Committee. He has served as president of the Peoria County Veterinary Association since 2014, volunteering a tremendous amount of time and effort to coordinate medical and surgical care for the animals of Peoria County and the Peoria Humane Society. In this role, he also supports fundraising efforts for Be Kind to Animals Week and the annual Bark in the Park event, helping to raise public awareness regarding proper pet care and adoption services.
He previously served as both vice president and president of the Tazewell County Veterinary Association, while his USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) accreditation allows him to provide relocation services to pets both within the United States and globally.
Dr. Couri has served a wide range of animal rescue organizations, including Foster Pet Outreach, Great Dane Rescue, American Belgian Malinois Rescue and West Highland White Terrier Rescue, providing essential medical and surgical care so these animals have the best opportunity to find their forever home. He also helps pet owners who are less fortunate by working with Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) and Peoria County Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) to provide monthly spay and neuter services and rabies vaccinations.
