Dr. Shacorrah N. Evans, PT, DPT, is lead physical therapist at the Tri-County Special Education Association (TCSEA) and a PRN therapist for OSF Home Care Services. At TCSEA, she is responsible for supervising physical therapy assistants, hiring and training new personnel, and managing staff concerns while maintaining her own caseload of students who require physical therapy services in the school environment. At OSF, Dr. Evans provides physical therapy services to patients in their homes, helping a vulnerable population regain strength and achieve physical independence.

Dr. Evans serves as mentor program coordinator for the American Academy of Physical Therapy, a role that had long been vacant before she spearheaded its revival. In pairing students of color with mentors, she helps to provide a support system as they matriculate through their doctoral programs. She also serves on the Telehealth Taskforce for the American Physical Therapy Association, developing best practices for physical therapists to effectively serve pediatric patients virtually.

Active with the Peoria Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Dr. Evans chaired the Delta Academy from 2016 to 2020, teaching young girls about STEAM careers, self-awareness, leadership and goal setting. She also chaired the sorority’s annual “Cookies and Cocoa with Santa” event for three years and currently chairs the Audit Committee. As chaplain for the Greater Peoria Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Dr. Evans helps to motivate and inspire her fellow members. As a grade group coordinator, she is responsible for organizing and ensuring the effective implementation of events for the children in her group.

A servant leader driven to uplift her community, Dr. Evans was recently appointed to the Peoria County/City of Peoria’s Joint Commission on Racial Justice and Equity, lending her expertise to the Health & Human Services Subcommittee to help achieve racial equity in healthcare. PM
