40 Leaders Under Forty

Megha Garg is senior parts and services marketing consultant at Caterpillar Inc., responsible for developing agreements that provide assurance to customers on their equipment investment. She led the go-to-market-strategy for customer value agreements in 2020-2021, enabling Cat dealers to be a one-stop shop for maintenance, rebuild and repair needs, and was responsible for training dealers around the world. She has also led projects to introduce new parts for aftermarket consumption, guided teams to develop tooling solutions to service Cat equipment, and served as technical lead for the locomotive air brakes system.

A 6 Sigma Black Belt, Garg has completed multiple certifications and training courses and served as a coach and mentor for co-workers and interns. She has also been a champion of diversity and inclusion at Caterpillar, facilitating events in support of Crittenton Centers, Habitat for Humanity, and other charitable organizations. Garg has held numerous leadership positions with the Society of Women Engineers, Central Illinois Section (SWE-CI), chairing the advocacy and work-life integration committees; organizing workshops, events and technical tours; representing SWE-CI at global and regional conferences; and mentoring young women engineers and students. She has been a leader in the Caterpillar Asian Indian Community Employee Resource Group, serving as a committee chair and arranging networking and professional development sessions. She also helped lay the groundwork for a fundraising gala that continues to benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse each year.

Outside of Caterpillar, Garg serves as membership engagement volunteer for Impact Central Illinois, a collective giving organization that awards grants to Peoria-area charities, and is active with the Boy Scouts of America as pack committee chair for Ridgeview Elementary Pack 245. A longtime board member of the Indian American Society of Peoria, she has held multiple leadership roles for its signature event, IndiaFest, and helped organize large-scale fundraisers supporting charities such as St. Jude, Children’s Hospital of Illinois and Easterseals. She has tutored children at Neighborhood House and teaches geography online for the North South Foundation, which provides disadvantaged children in India with college scholarships. PM
