40 Leaders Under Forty

As director of marketing and communications at the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA), Camille Yameen leads a team of marketing professionals and oversees all special events and marketing and communications efforts for the agency. She creates and manages promotional and outreach materials, leads the donation and volunteer program, and assists the executive director in networking with potential donors, partners and volunteers.

Yameen led the agency’s recent rebranding campaign, giving it a new look and feel while remaining steadfast in its long-standing mission. Under her leadership, CFPA’s social media presence and engagement have improved dramatically. She formed and directs CFPA’s Ad Hoc Committee for Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach, establishing agency goals and coordinating website translation and ADA compliance. She was responsible for the creation and execution of the “I Run With Survivors” campaign for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, led the rollout of CFPA’s Human Trafficking Services Department, and helped create the Outstanding Youth Leader in Violence Prevention Award. She has overseen the last three annual Duck Races, achieving the highest sales and revenue to date, and is one of three leaders planning for “Light 2020,” CFPA’s Human Trafficking Services Educational Conference, in 2020.

Yameen serves on the board of directors for Humanity Unified International, a global organization that invests in education, food security and sustainable development programs to empower people in Rwanda to rise above poverty. She’s a member of the Rotary Club of Peoria-North, the Central Illinois Public Information Officers Committee and the Human Services Collaborative Marketing Committee.

While serving in the Peace Corps in Madagascar, Yameen worked with a local village and the government to raise awareness about malaria-related concerns and rally support for Malagasy women. She is a published author, speech coach, motivational speaker, and winner of the 2019 Women to Women Emerging Leader Award from the Community Foundation of Central Illinois’ Women’s Fund. PM
