40 Leaders Under Forty

Paul M. Jeziorczak, MD, MPH, is a pediatric surgeon at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois and clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He sees patients in Peoria, including the St. Jude affiliate office, as well as satellite clinics in Moline and Urbana. With extensive training in trauma surgery, Dr. Jeziorczak was appointed pediatric trauma director at Children’s Hospital of Illinois, providing comprehensive, high-quality trauma care in the central Illinois region.

Highly invested in the development of future physicians, Dr. Jeziorczak mentors medical students and residents and serves as faculty for the American College of Surgery Board Review, helping to prepare graduating surgical residents for board examinations. He also serves on the Clinical Competency Committee for the University of Illinois’ surgery residency, which ensures proper training and progress during the five-year program. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed abstracts, presentations and publications, and is directly involved in cutting-edge research activities, including a jointly awarded Jump ARCHES grant on healthcare communication through Jump Simulation.

Board-certified in both general surgery and pediatric surgery, Dr. Jeziorczak is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), International Pediatric Endosurgery Group and the American Pediatric Surgical Association. He previously served on the National Board of Medical Examiners and the ACS Health Policy and Advocacy Group, which addresses public policy issues and concerns affecting surgeons and their patients. He is also an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) for local healthcare professionals.

A member and volunteer at St. Jude Catholic Church, Dr. Jeziorczak supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Family House and is a past volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in its summer camp program. He is a proud husband and father of three sons and is active in their school and extracurricular activities. PM
