40 Leaders Under Forty

As a senior architect at Farnsworth Group, Ellen Adams provides project management, concept and design, program and site analysis, proposal preparation, client presentations, construction administration and other services to a range of clients, working across disciplines and sectors to lead them through the vision and design process. She is certified by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB) and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), having designed and managed projects ranging from several thousands of dollars to multi-million-dollar developments.

While her professional accomplishments can be seen in physical structures ranging from the new Ronald McDonald House to an addition at Illinois CancerCare to Peoria High School’s expansion and renovation, she is passionate about the STEM fields and related opportunities for today’s youth. She served in a leadership role in hosting the 4G STEM Camp for Girls, introducing young women to architecture and engineering through hands-on activities, mentoring and professional advocacy. She also helped organize the first GP CareerSpark event, which introduces eighth grade students to a wide variety of career opportunities.

Ever since embarking on the first of multiple mission trips as a seventh grader, Adams has employed her skills and passion to improve the lives of others. A graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School, she later served on its advisory board and as a Chamber Ambassador. She is a board member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria and co-chairs the organization’s Salvage Art silent auction. She is also a member of the 1,000 Pounds Project, a committee of young leaders using their unique skills to impact the greatest needs of the community, and a regular participant in Farnsworth Group’s charitable fundraisers and activities, which benefit a range of service agencies and community organizations.
