As a digital communicator in the Marketing & Brand Division at Caterpillar Inc., Jennifer Thompson develops and oversees editorial policies, processes and guidelines for content on the company’s customer-facing website at cat.com, working across the organization to ensure consistency and compliance of messaging and voice. In her previous role at Caterpillar, she was responsible for managing product information for its dealer-facing website.
In 2017 and 2018, Thompson served as event coordinator for Caterpillar’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) Global Leadership Team. She is currently serving as event coordinator for community outreach on WIN’s Central Illinois Leadership Team, driving awareness of critical needs and volunteer opportunities at Dream Center Peoria. For her efforts, she was named the WIN Global Member of the Year in 2018.
Thompson also assists in planning events for Dream Center Peoria, including a fall drive to collect supplies for its 24/7 homeless shelter, a drive to collect donations for its Hope Store for low-income families, and efforts to provide Christmas gifts for children and families through the Dream Center Angel Tree. She was also selected to serve as a mentor for one of the girls at the Dream Center through WIN Central Illinois’ mentor program.
As a volunteer for Crittenton Centers, Thompson co-chaired its first wine tasting event in 2017 and served on the Jingle & Mingle Planning Committee in 2018. This year, she is serving on the Brunch & Bubbly Committee, assisting with marketing ideas, planning and event coordination. She coordinates an annual sock drive at her church for homeless men at the Peoria Rescue Mission, and volunteers for Children’s Hospital of Illinois, The Salvation Army and South Side Mission.
A strong advocate for working women and mothers everywhere, Thompson founded a lifestyle blog in 2018 where she shares inspirational posts on motherhood.
