Hank Stickelmaier leads the specialty insurance company’s search for workforce talent, partnering with recruiters and other business leaders to develop effective candidate pipeline strategies through employer branding, external search firms, direct sourcing, online postings, referrals, social media and other relevant methods to deliver a diverse, high-quality talent pool.

Hank joined RLI as a compensation analyst in 2017 and quickly became an integral part of several critical corporate initiatives, most notably a compensation system implementation and a company-wide job analysis. In his current position, he and his team have filled a record number of job openings at RLI. He is completing work on his MBA.

On the community service front, he is active with Easterseals Central Illinois, where he has volunteered on the Run-Walk-Roll Committee for several years, taking charge of its post-race party. Five years ago, he was part of Easterseals’ Team Believe and competed in the New York Marathon as a fundraiser for the organization. Hank also has been of service to Junior Achievement with its Career Spark event and United Way. 

Hobbies: “When I’m not attending kids’ events or working, my hobbies include running, Cardinals baseball, reading, podcasts and fantasy football.”

Best advice ever: “Improvement isn’t always linear. You can have ups and downs, but it’s still progress.”

Social issues: “Passionate about equity/equality for all.”

Favorite cause: “Easterseals is something I’ve been involved with the most and have family that have benefited greatly from their services.”

Leadership definition: “The ability to gain the respect of others through mutual respect and trust. Empowering others to grow and develop their skills while providing guidance and support.”
