PARC (People Advocating for Respect and Consideration of individuals with developmental disabilities) will host the 2009 PARC Benefit Auction on Saturday, August 29th from 6 to 10pm at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Ballroom. Gina Morss of WEEK-TV will emcee the event, which will include a silent and live auction, hors d’oeuvres, wine and beverage tastings, desserts and live music by Preston Jackson and Friends. All funds received through sponsorships, auction items or individual donations will go directly to support PARC programs and services.

“By attending and participating in the 2009 PARC Benefit Auction, advocates for the disabled show their belief in the potential of every person,” said PARC Development Director Sibylle LaHood. “In addition to being a really fun and interesting event, it is a way to provide much-needed funding in support of PARC’s mission to provide lifelong, person-centered programs and services that enable individuals with developmental disabilities to fully participate in life with dignity and respect.”

Last year, the PARC Piggy Banks were particularly popular auction items. They were created and hand-painted by PARC participants at the Fired Up pottery studio in Peoria Heights. PARC plans to repeat the event this year, with more colorful piggy banks.

Reservations for the event are $50, and tables of 10 are $450. To reserve tickets, volunteer, donate an auction item or obtain more information, call (309) 689-3608. Additional information is also available at parcway.org/goto/09benefitauction. a&s
