Add some vintage elegance to dessert and wow your valentine with a time-tested treat from the recipe box of Jean Morron.
A well-known Peoria philanthropist and world traveler of her time, Jean Morron knew good style… as well as good food. Among the trove of treasures found inside the Peoria Historical Society’s Pettengill-Morron House Museum—including cherished collections of antique china, silver and furniture—volunteers stumbled upon an old wooden box filled with recipes for Miss Morron’s favorite libations, dishes and desserts.
After combing through the cards of handwritten instructions and transcribing her notes, PHS volunteers, with the help of photographers Kevin Kizer and Kevin May, compiled the tastiest of the tasty to share with the community in the newly released book, Vintage Recipes from the Pantry of Jean Morron. Among them is Miss Morron’s recipe for “Chocolate Delights” (described as “very good!” on her original recipe card), which make for the perfect, deliciously rich dessert to serve to that special someone this Valentine’s Day—or any other special occasion you may be celebrating!
