The Cook’s Tour of local homes encourages people to get healthy and creative in the kitchen.

Good health starts in the kitchen. That much will be clear on September 20th, when five home kitchens are featured on the biennial Cook’s Tour, a fundraiser for the Peoria Medical Society Alliance. With a similar format to the Peoria Garden Club’s Garden Walk, the homes will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm for self-guided tours.

This year’s homes will feature a wide variety of inspiring kitchens, from brand-new to remodeled, from traditional indoor spaces to outdoor patios. One highlight—Pam and Jeff Green’s kitchen in their home on Timber Ridge—will delight guests with its outside terrace and fresh vibe. In conjunction with the inspirational spaces on display, the Peoria Medical Society Alliance will reprint its “Just What the Doctor Ordered” cookbook for the event, promoting good health through cooking. Local florists will adorn the kitchens for the tour, while décor experts, vendors and restaurants will have booths on site, offering tips and samples.

The Cook’s Tour is the Peoria Medical Society Alliance’s largest fundraiser. All proceeds will support its mission of promoting the health, education and quality of life for the people of central Illinois. a&s
