Whether you’re hoping to relive the ‘70s or just looking for an economical and fun ride, the 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle is buzzing with options. With more torque and even a program to automatically open your garage door, this little bug can hold its own on the road. The 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster places priority on the driver with integrated displays and ergonomic controls. The critically acclaimed 2007 Jaguar XKR will evoke neck-bending stares at its sleek aluminum body shell, and the 2007 Range Rover Sport maintains a smooth ride as it muscles its way on and off the highway. Remember: whatever your choice, it’s not where you’re going, it’s how you get there.

1 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle

The 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle is a touch of ‘70s retro wrapped in the technology of today. This little car comes standard with a 2.5L, 150-hp engine and can be outfitted with different options including hardtop and convertible, manual and automatic. It has a redesigned head and taillights, an optional power sunroof, power side mirrors with integrated blinkers, optional fog lights and 17” alloy wheels.

“I’ve sold it to 70-year-old men, 19-year-old girls, parents and to parents for their children,” Joseph Bolek of SÜD’s of Peoria said. “I’ve been selling Volkswagens since 1994, and this is the one model that appeals to everyone.”

SÜD’s is also home to Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Audi. For more information about the New Beetle, visit SÜD’s at 2350 N. 8th Street in Pekin, call 676-1101 or visit

2 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster

The Saturn name is synonymous with reliability, stability and now sportiness with the introduction of the 2007 Sky Roadster. The engine in the Sky is the Ecotec—a high-performance engine with low emissions and GM’s first truly global engine. The Sky is available with two different engines—the standard 2.4L with 177-hp or the 2L turbo-charged 260-hp engine.

“The standard Sky is designed to be a fun-to-drive, enjoyable weekend car; turbo is for the more hardcore turbo enthusiast,” Jeff Puskarich, sales consultant at Saturn of Peoria said. “It’s completely different from what people are expecting from Saturn.”

3 2007 Jaguar XKR

The 2007 Jaguar XKR represents the perfect mixture of luxury and sport. This automobile athlete also comes with high critical acclaim, having received the Recommended 2007 Award from Consumer Guide Automotive in the Premium Sporty/Performance Car category, along with Best Coupe and Car of the Year at the 2006 Auto Express New Car Honours.

The XKR touts Jaguar’s newest all-aluminum, Eaton-supercharged 4.2L AJ-V8 engine capable of taking the car from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Available in coupe or convertible, this sleek car is sure to turn heads anywhere it goes.

“It’s new as far as the design and the construction,” Tom Akers, general manager at Jaguar Land Rover of Peoria, said. “The vehicle itself handles better in all aspects, from performance to gas mileage.”

4 2007 Range Rover Sport

The 2007 Range Rover Sport comes standard with a 4.4L 300-hp V8 engine or, for just a bit more, you can get the supercharged version, which carries a 4.2L 390-hp V8 engine.

An extensive array of premium features are provided with the Range Rover Sport. One of the more interesting of these features is the Park Distance Control system, which comes standard in the front and rear and warns the driver when he or she is close to an object.

“While it still has all of the off-road capabilities, the vehicle really handles and performs like a sports sedan as opposed to an SUV,” Akers said. “Yet you have all the comfort and luxury associated with a sports vehicle wrapped up in an SUV body.”
