Lee Wenger is the afternoon classical music host on WCBU 89.9, the public radio station at Bradley University. A Peoria native and Bradley graduate, Lee has performed with many of the arts organizations in central Illinois over the past 45 years. He works with the Peoria Municipal Band, Opera Illinois, the Morton Civic Chorus, the Peoria Gridiron Dinner and the Gilbert & Sullivan Dinner Theatre at Woodruff High School. He is also likely to show up entertaining or serving as emcee for nonprofits, clubs, luncheons and dinners all over the area. His family includes wife Denise Adams, sons Matthew and Christopher, and daughter Kaitlin. Lee recently took a moment to “Take 10” and, true to form, put it off till the last minute!

  1. Secret ambition? To discover the nature of gravity and defeat it.
  2. Most impulsive thing I’ve ever done? Sanded our hardwood floors. What was I thinking?
  3. My life is… blessed beyond my willingness to admit.
  4. If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be? We’d be a touring act.
  5. If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what would it be? A philanthropist…A really rich one.
  6. What do you know now that you didn’t know at 30? How joyful it is to be a father.
  7. When and where are you happiest? Anytime on-stage entertaining an audience.

  9. What do you do when you want to relax? Deep breathing in a warm Jacuzzi with some cold sangria. Now if only I had a Jacuzzi and some sangria…
