Kyle Bright is an admissions representative at Illinois Central College, responsible for recruiting students and guiding them on to future success. Each year, he manages a recruitment caseload of about 700 seniors and 1,100 juniors, and in this role, he has been responsible for dramatic increases in minority student enrollment, always finding innovative ways to attract and retain students.
A member of 35 hiring committees, Bright also serves on the ICC Scholarship Selection Committee and hosts the African American History program. He is chairman of the Minority Retention Committee, a member of the Hispanic Heritage Month event team, and has hosted more than 100 college tours, orientations and presentations. Bright developed and coordinated the Midnight Enrollment Project, designed to enroll students at unique times of the day, served as a workshop leader for College Night, and has also taught at ICC.
Constantly searching for ways to positively impact his community, Bright is involved with a range of civic organizations. A lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, he currently chairs the Scholarship Ball and Membership Selection Committee, and serves on the Talent Hunt and Founders Day committees. He is a charter member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Peoria, serves on the Steering Committee for the River City Soul Fest, and is a voter registrar at various local events.
A proud product of Peoria Public Schools, Bright also finds time to speak one-on-one to area youth, offering education and career advice. Passionate about sending students to college, he contributes to numerous scholarship fundraisers for high school seniors. Bright was named the 2004 Omega Man of the Year, and his strong leadership at ICC has been recognized numerous times in the college’s newsletter and in the Peoria Journal Star.
Even with his busy schedule, Bright found time to co-found Social Therapy, a group that plans social events for young professionals, and is nearing the completion of his master’s degree. He is also the proud father of three-year-old twin girls. iBi
