An engineering specialist and undercarriage systems engineer at Caterpillar Inc., Jennifer A. Brooks is a principal contributor for the development of undercarriage systems for multiple machine product lines. She is responsible for designing, promoting and evaluating new products and processes, as well as advising customers, managers, marketing personnel, suppliers and engineers.

A 6 Sigma Black Belt, Brooks is currently leading projects to meet machine group objectives for multiple product groups in the U.S. and Europe, as well as the resourcing of undercarriage systems to support the move of machines from Asia to North America.

Since 2009, Brooks has been an active member of the Society of Women Engineers – Central Illinois Section, serving as its secretary for two years. She has chaired the Professional Development Committee, hosted numerous speaker dinners and technical tours, and participated on the Work-Life Integration Committee. She is currently serving a term as president-elect and will lead the organization as president in FY 2015.

Brooks is also a speaker and facilitator with the Caterpillar Career Experience program, where she interacts with high school students and discusses the variety of skills needed in her field. Since 2009, she has volunteered with the W.D. Boyce Council’s Explorer Post program, arranging speakers and organizing hands-on projects to introduce students to multiple engineering disciplines.

Brooks is co-chair of her product group’s events team, supporting Easter Seals and the Children’s Home Association throughout the year. She organizes the annual Keepsacks for Kids project for Children’s Home, providing hand-made blankets and tote bags to children and families in need of extra support during the winter months. Brooks is active with Germantown Hills Elementary School and Northminster Presbyterian Church, and has previously been involved with Sigma Alpha Iota, Theta Iota and Pi Tau Sigma. With two young children at home, she enjoys volunteering for school field trips and participating in classroom events. iBi
