As traffic engineer and project manager for Hanson Professional Services, Kurt N. Bialobreski serves on transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the country. He helps clients make critical decisions throughout the planning process and provides project management services for on-call traffic services for various municipalities.

With 13 years of experience in civil and transportation engineering, Bialobreski specializes in traffic studies, traffic signal design, corridor and travel-demand modeling, and intersection design studies. He recently worked on two high-profile rehabilitation projects in Peoria: the Warehouse District revitalization and the Washington Street/U.S. 24 corridor update. He also served on the design team responsible for the award-winning, first dual-lane roundabout on an Illinois highway in Rockford.

His certification as a professional traffic operations engineer places him among fewer than 2,400 professionals nationwide. He has worked with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Tri-County Regional Planning Commission to incorporate travel demand and corridor modeling into the project funding selection and design processes to make more efficient use of limited construction funds.

Bialobreski is a gifted communicator and active public speaker, delivering presentations to the American Public Works Association’s Illinois Chapter, Illinois Association of Highway Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Illinois Valley Branch. He serves on the American Road and Transportation Builders Association’s Policy Committee for autonomous vehicles and vehicle-to-vehicle communication, and was recognized by Civil + Structural Engineer magazine as a 2014 Rising Star in Civil Engineering. He was also named the 2012 Young Civil Engineer of the Year by ASCE’s Central Illinois Section.

A member of the Pekin Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation Committee, Bialobreski has served on the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission’s Air Quality and Congestion Management subcommittees, and is a strong supporter of the Heart of Illinois United Way, Catholic Relief Services and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholarships. iBi
