As vice president of investments at Cullinan Properties, Sean Garrett is responsible for conducting financial feasibility analyses, negotiating leases, and sourcing debt and equity for new developments, refinancings and acquisitions. Since joining the Cullinan team in 2011, he has worked on a range of local projects, including The Levee District in East Peoria, Grand Prairie Developments in Peoria, and the East Court Village Shopping Center in Pekin, as well as several projects in states across the country.
Having advanced to his current position at a young age, Garrett has the proven ability to balance the many demands of high-stress, high-dollar transactions. More than $75 million of projects have been completed under his leadership.
Active with the Heart of Illinois United Way, Garrett serves on the executive leadership team for GENeration United, the organization’s emerging leaders group. Now in his second year as co-chair of GEN-U’s LEAD Committee, he helped develop the group’s organizational strategies, structure and goals. He assists with the coordination of nonprofit agency tours, works with leadership on initiatives like BoardSERVE, and was a member of the 2013 Heart of Illinois United Way Campaign Cabinet. He also helps coordinate the engagement of staff at Cullinan Properties, where donations have more than doubled since he took on this role.
Leading by example, Garrett has been a mentor to those involved with programs like YOUTH United, as well as to interns within his profession. He is also a board member of the Business PAC of Central Illinois and the Peoria Area Young Republicans. Garrett’s professionalism and business acumen make him an ideal volunteer and community advocate, and his passion for growing the community engagement of the next generation of leaders is rivaled only by his passion for helping others and enthusiasm for his career. iBi
