Barbara L. Toohill is a clinical psychologist and co-owner of The Antioch Group Inc., a Christian counseling and psychological office, where she provides counseling and psychological assessment services and leads numerous specialty service groups, including the Autism Clinic, Child Services Clinic and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders Clinic.
In her role at the practice, Toohill has consistently utilized her talents to transform the business of mental health in central Illinois. She assisted the campaign in the Illinois legislature to obtain prescription privileges for psychologists and is currently working on a post-doctoral master’s degree in clinical psychopharmacology to better serve clients with a variety of treatment tools. In 2013, she was rated a “Top Doctor” of mental health in Illinois by healthtap.com.
Having recognized the need for autism treatment strategies in the local community, Toohill developed the Spectrum of Hope Autism Clinic at The Antioch Group, which she continues to coordinate today. She earned advanced certification as a specialist in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, expanding the group’s services to include the condition, and is currently developing a clinical outcomes pilot project to improve client care and services at the practice. She has presented at a variety of local speaking engagements and is a published author, sharing her knowledge and experience with the mental health services community and the community at large.
Twice a month, Toohill donates clinical hours to the South Side Mission, conducting psychological intake evaluations for women entering the shelter. For these services, she was a shared recipient of the organization’s 2015 Loaves and Fishes Award. She is an executive board member of the Women’s Care Center in Peoria and organizes corporate participation in Whitney’s Walk for Life and the Autism Society of America’s annual walk. She and her husband, Nicholas, have been married for 13 years and have four children. iBi
