For seven years, Tarter served on the board of Peoria Area Community Events, where she was integral in planning and executing some of the region’s largest events, including the Steamboat Festival, Taste of Peoria and Santa Claus Parade. She is a current board member of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce and a 2013 graduate of its Community Leadership School (CLS), serving on the CLS Planning Committee and chairing one of its small groups.
