Tenille Oderwald is a registered nurse and certified breast health navigator at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and OSF Centers for Breast Health, a critical role that encompasses a myriad of activities in the areas of breast health and breast cancer awareness. She serves as educator and care coordinator for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients; inpatient navigator and discharge planner at OSF Saint Francis; facilitator of the Beyond Breast Cancer support group; and coordinator of the Comprehensive Breast Center Clinic at the Susan G. Komen Breast Center, the Survivor for Life volunteer program and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers’ accreditation survey at OSF Centers for Breast Health.

Oderwald was pivotal in initiating the breast health navigator role at the Susan G. Komen Breast Center and OSF Centers for Breast Health, as well as the Survivor for Life volunteer program. In addition, she started the Comprehensive Breast Center Clinic and initiated the role of inpatient navigator and discharge planner for breast surgery cases at OSF Saint Francis. Having started the high-risk breast cancer program at OSF Centers for Breast Health in 2014, she is working as a site investigator to determine if data from the program can be used to expand risk assessment and prevention solutions across the country.

A staunch advocate for breast health in the community, Oderwald has led outreach efforts at a range of events, including the Outreach Health Fair, the annual Breast Cancer Symposium, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Pray for the Cure and the Breast Cancer Survivor Retreat. She serves on numerous committees at OSF Saint Francis and is a past board member of the Kids Konnected cancer support group.

For these efforts, Oderwald has been recognized with the OSF Nursing Excellence Award, the Linda B. Washkuhn Education and Leadership Award through the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate, and the Nancy Swardenski Award for Compassion in Caring. She and her husband Jason have three children. iBi
