As the owner of Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Jamie McCarthy Smith provides quality dental care to children in the Peoria area from birth through college. Board-certified through the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, she has been a pediatric dentist since 2009, developing a rapport with children and families in her hometown of Peoria. Having started her own business in 2013, she has grown her practice from a staff of three to a staff of nine.

Dr. Smith’s devotion to her profession is reflected in her community involvement. She provides dental treatment to children at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Illinois, volunteering her time when families have limited access to dental resources. She is especially passionate about providing care to children with special needs, and now serves as the local clinical director for the Special Olympics. She also teaches pediatric dentistry to dental residents at OSF.

A board member for the Peoria District Dental Society and the Hult Center for Healthy Living, Dr. Smith helps coordinate the American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile event, bringing dental care to children in need in Peoria every February.

Outside of dentistry, she is a member of the Family Advisory Board at Children’s Hospital of Illinois, which provides support to families with children in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU). She also serves as committee chair for the Small Wonders Miracle Walk, raising money and awareness for the NCCU and the children it serves—a particular passion of hers, as her first child was born 15 weeks early, weighing just one pound, nine ounces.

Dr. Smith and her husband of nine years, Joshua, are parents of three children—Chloe, Carter and Charlotte—and are currently expecting number four! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, working out at the gym, reading and traveling. iBi
