As Vice President of Operations, Wendy A. Mitchell has been a leader in driving business and philanthropic operations at the OSF Healthcare Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Illinois Foundation. In this role, she provides executive oversight and direction for the development team, oversees major fundraising programs, works to cultivate relationships with donors, plans and executes fundraising events, and spreads awareness of the OSF HealthCare mission.
As Director of Business Development with the Peoria Rivermen for more than a decade, Mitchell led the organization’s sales team, established a range of significant partnerships, and facilitated a community outreach program. Upon moving to OSF in 2011, she assisted in fundraising efforts for the construction of the Milestone Building, now home to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, developing and implementing a range of philanthropic efforts.
She now leads a development team with 11 locations in two states, driving fundraising, communication and strategy for the OSF Healthcare Foundation. She collaborates with Foundation team members and Children’s Hospital of Illinois leadership, ambassadors and volunteers to support new and current donors and identify opportunities for fundraising and gifts. She also mentors young female professionals across the OSF community.
In addition to her responsibilities at OSF, Mitchell is active in a variety of community efforts. She sits on the board of Junior Achievement of Central Illinois, assists with Vacation Bible School and Sunday school programs at her church, and supports Children’s Hospital through the Morton Gameball Run.
A Certified Fund Raising Executive and recent recipient of the 25 Women in Leadership award, Mitchell is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.
