The Jump ARCHES partnership between OSF HealthCare and the University of Illinois has expanded dramatically through the announcement of additional endowments. Established in 2013 with $62.5 million in support, Jump ARCHES (Applied Research for Community Health through Engineering and Simulation) now has an additional $50 million in commitments—a total of $112.5 million in endowment support.

The DiSomma Family Foundation has gifted $25 million to the endowment, with an additional $12.5 million from the OSF HealthCare Foundation and $12.5 million from the U of I. New projects will explore the intersection of mobile sensors, Internet of Things devices, data analytics, machine learning, and social and behavioral health science research. The expansion will also contribute to the new Discovery Partners Institute and Illinois Innovation Network, statewide initiatives led by the U of I system to foster discovery and entrepreneurship that drives progress, job creation and economic growth.

According to Kesh Kesavadas, director of the U of I’s Health Care Engineering Systems Center and engineer-in-chief at Jump ARCHES, the endowment is believed to be the largest in the world dedicated to healthcare engineering. jumpsimulation.org PM
