In his efforts to help nonprofit agencies thrive, Matt George has attempted world records, leveraged professional sports relationships, and even spearheaded his own termination as a CEO. George shares these anecdotal stories, his passion for changing lives, and his strategies for strengthening social service agencies across the board in his new book, Nonprofit Game Plan: The Proven Strategy for Nonprofit Success.
George began his career raising money around the country for the Jeff George Foundation, then settled in Peoria where he served as CEO for a variety of organizations—including Youth Farm, Cancer Center for Healthy Living, and his current position at Children’s Home. His two decades of experience as a nonprofit leader have always been centered on running his organization as a business, and not as a charity.
Nonprofit Game Plan details how a shift in identity and attitude at the helm of any nonprofit can aid an organization. It also explains how carefully crafted “mission moments” can translate into stronger team building, community collaboration and fundraising strategies.
George’s determination, persistence and focus on making a difference in his community caught the attention of entrepreneur Kevin Harrington, one of the original Shark Tank investors. They spoke at a conference in Las Vegas, and Harrington not only agreed to mentor George, but also wrote the foreword to his book. Nonprofit Game Plan can be found on Amazon.
