The Illinois Art League (IAL) is nearly six decades old, with more than 125 members from 19 communities throughout the state—its largest membership to date. Comprised of fine artists in a range of media, the group regularly hosts shows, exhibitions and workshops.

“This year, we have expanded our educational and networking sessions to five times a year to help members… learn more about the local art community, or to learn a new art technique,” says Barbie Perry, who serves as co-president of the organization with Judy Ritchie. “We want to give artists—especially new artists—the opportunity to show their work, win ribbons and gain recognition, as well as opportunities to sell their art. This has been the mission of our club since it was formed in 1960.”

On November 2, the IAL will host its annual Holiday Art Market at the Warehouse on State in Peoria’s Warehouse District. The event will feature unique and original artwork from over 26 central Illinois artists working in oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, wood, ceramics, glass and jewelry—all artwork is for sale. “A gift of art is so personal and your friends or loved ones will cherish the extra thought in your gift selection,” Perry adds. Food and beverage vendors will be onsite for the day as well. illinoisartleague.com PM
