PSO at the Twelve Bar

The Twelve Bar has become a popular gathering space for small plates, tasty drinks and intimate performances.

The Peoria Symphony Orchestra recently embarked on a new partnership with the Twelve Bar in Peoria Heights. On the second Wednesday of each month, the up-and-coming venue features PSO musicians presenting a range of unique performances you won’t hear in the Civic Center Theater. The first took place on July 10th featuring Strat & Strad—a beautiful and haunting trio of violin, guitar and hand drums led by PSO second violinist Rosemary Ardner.

Since changing its name and shifting its focus to live music, the Twelve Bar has become a popular gathering space for small plates, tasty drinks and intimate performances. The third-floor space is located above EDGE, Chef Dustin Allen’s farm-to-table restaurant at 4500 Prospect Road—which it nicely complements with a well-curated menu of tapas and creative libations.

For its part, the PSO is excited to present its musicians in a different light, showcasing the vastness of their musicianship and eclectic styles. “We love the chance to bring music to people in unexpected places,” notes executive director Susan Hoffman. “This is a great opportunity to not only share the talent of our wonderful musicians, but to help make classical music accessible, as we meet the people where they are.”

These special PSO performances are for all ages and there is no cover charge. “This is a perfect enhancement of our PSO community engagement and one close to my heart,” adds music director George Stelluto. “Music, food, wine and camaraderie! Life is good!” peoriasymphony.org PM
