When the longtime owners of The School House in Peoria announced their retirement last year, Nikki Cole and Heidi Koll-Pio jumped at the chance to take over. The two had always dreamed of being business owners, and the opportunity seemed too good to pass up.
Now known as the School House Express, the shop resides at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie—and as a mobile store via a 32-foot RV, taking school supplies and other products straight to their customers. “We saw the trend in mobile businesses and recognized this could be another opportunity to reach our clients directly,” Cole explains, noting the mobile unit is available for free bookings within 75 miles of Peoria. “We have
been requested at community events, school celebrations, open houses and more!”
Though it’s primarily been billed as a store for teachers, the shop offers products for everyone and every skill level, both inside and outside the classroom. “We strive to make everything affordable, recognizing that a lot of teachers are paying out of pocket,” Cole adds. “Additionally, we offer these conveniences and services year-round, not just one week a year.” Learn more at theschoolhouseexpress.com.
