On a 1910 visit to Peoria, President Theodore Roosevelt called Grandview Drive the “World’s Most Beautiful Drive,” a tag that stuck—and gave the WMBD radio station its call letters. Meandering for 2.5 miles, it’s more than a scenic view, it’s a scenic drive—the only linear park on the National Historic Register—with multiple spots to pull off the road and absorb sprawling panoramas of the Illinois River Valley, its natural bluffs intact and unchanged for centuries.
