Community Impact

Mission
To help all people—women, men andchildren—live free from violence and abuse.

Vision
To build a safe and peaceful community.

We are advocates for survivors of abuse in central Illinois. We are therapists, caseworkers, counselors, speakers, trainers, crisis managers, leaders and community educators.

We believe everyone deserves peace, every day, everywhere, any time—at home, in the workplace, at school and out in the community.

A pioneer in providing services to victims of violence, the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) has grown from a single rape crisis hotline started in 1975 to a highly respected statewide leader in working to end abuse and break the cycle of generational violence.

CFPA provides free and confidential services for survivors of abuse and is the only agency authorized by the State of Illinois to provide a combination of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, as well as adult protective services. Services include case management, therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, Orders of Protection, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, education to victims and their families, and more.

Annually, CFPA serves more than 6,000 individuals affected by violence and abuse. CFPA offers school-based abuse prevention programming to students pre-K through college age, reaching nearly 36,000 young people each year.

Through these activities, plus community presentations and trainings, CFPA lives out its mission to help everyone live free from violence and abuse.

How to Help

CFPA is always looking for passionate and compassionate individuals to join our mission of helping all people live free from violence and abuse. From attending our special events to volunteering your time to monetary gifts and in-kind donations, there are many ways you can have a positive impact on those we serve.

We are thankful for our longtime supporters, community partners and dedicated staff for their help in creating and maintaining a safe place for survivors.

CFPA has a number of volunteer opportunities for interested individuals and groups, and updates the list of donation needs frequently on the website. For information about volunteering or to inquire about donations, visit centerforpreventionofabuse.org or call (309) 691-0551.
