Community Impact

Mission
To increase the organized capacity of people in central Illinois to care for one another.

Vision
To create a strong, safe and healthy community while providing the best return for the community’s charitable investment.

The Heart of Illinois United Way focuses on identifying and addressing education, financial stability and health concerns in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark and Putnam counties. Through our data-driven process, we evaluate and apply ongoing research to our Community Impact Fund grant process. This invests our community’s donations strategically and with the best philanthropic return on investment… resulting in measurable change in the lives of those in need in our community.

Donations to our Community Impact Fund mean that: more than 80 percent of youth in our education programs improve school readiness and go on to achieve academic success; more than 85 percent of low-income individuals, families, seniors and persons with developmental disabilities are able to live independently in affordable homes; and more than 85 percent of adults and youth improve their overall physical and mental health.

We have proven time and again that we are built to support central Illinois in times like these, as we can adapt our process to changing needs while providing a solid foundation of services year-round. Personal and corporate donations to the Heart of Illinois United Way’s Community Impact Fund address the greatest needs while providing a reliable and steady source of income for our partner agencies. Through the community’s generosity, we ensure people in central Illinois have continued access to education, financial stability and health programs, year-round, no matter the situation.

How to Help
Each year, more than 300 local companies and organizations participate in the Heart of Illinois United Way’s annual campaign. Our volunteers are not only vital to our campaign, but they also participate in fundraising events. For more information, visit hoiunitedway.org.

Heart of Illinois Volunteers is an online community (volunteer.hoiunitedway.org) dedicated to connecting volunteers with needs at local nonprofit organizations. We invite anyone who wants to volunteer, or organizations seeking volunteers, to join.

Heart of Illinois 2-1-1 information and referral service, a partnership with Advanced Medical Transport, provides critical access to health and human care programs throughout our six-county region. The service is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling 211 (309-999-4029), connecting on Facebook @hoi211, or online at 211hoi.org.
