Community Impact

The only multidisciplinary museum of its kind in the nation, the Peoria Riverfront Museum uses art, science, history and achievement to inspire confidence, lifelong learning and talent.

The privately funded nonprofit museum has provided more than one million experiences since 2012 through major exhibitions, a permanent collection, interactive galleries, the Dome Planetarium, the Giant Screen Theater and the Every Student Initiative, which provides donor-supported free visits to all K-8 Peoria and East Peoria Public Schools students, as well as to a growing roster of public and private schools around central Illinois.

The museum is AAM-accredited and Smithsonian-affiliated, supported by more than 4,300 members and donors, and housed in a county-owned, LEED Gold-certified building overlooking the Illinois River.

How to Help
A Peoria Riverfront Museum membership provides many benefits, including free or reduced admission to 350 to 1,600 museums worldwide through our reciprocal programs with other museums. Families may join for $110/year and 1+1 membership is $90/year. Other benefits include free admission to galleries and planetarium shows, discounts on Giant Screen Theater films and special member events.

Our 325 and growing Visionary Society members help to sustain our mission by giving annually. The Visionary Society includes individual members who give $1,000 or more and Visionary Society Council members—including individuals, groups and companies—who give $10,000 or more. These members receive invitations to special events, sponsorship recognition and many more benefits.

Local corporations and businesses receive employee and customer benefits for their sponsorship gifts ranging from $2,500 to $100,000 or more that help to bring in exhibitions and create programs such as the Every Student Initiative.

Gifts of museum-quality objects, ranging from fine art to important scientific specimens, have created a collection of more than 15,000 objects.

Planned gifts and endowment donations have created the museum’s $12 million endowment. Managed by the PRM Foundation Board, donors can create permanent named endowment funds to honor someone and generate ongoing support.

Lifetime and endowment donors are recognized through the Peoria Falcon Circle.
