Community Impact

Mission
We are committed to supporting a life of choice for individuals with disabilities.

Vision
“It’s about ability, not disability.”

Since opening its doors in 1983, TCRC has provided goal-oriented choices for people with disabilities through services like community employment, job training, community day services, Springboard community programs, home-like residential services, low vision services and family support services. Through a wide array of options, people with developmental disabilities and visual impairments have many opportunities to fulfill their life goals.

Our Community Employment Services program partners with central Illinois businesses, building a reliable and diverse workforce for our community. A job coach is there to help with résumé building, identifying jobs, redesigning and/or adaptations that will lead to a more independent work setting and mock interviewing to help develop a working relationship between the person and employer. Successful partnerships match the skills of the person to the requirements of the job, and have included jobs in administration, customer service, hospitality, retail, manufacturing and food services.

The TCRC Sight Center is the only downstate low vision clinic assisting people with low vision issues such as macular degeneration or retinitis pigmentosis. Through low vision rehabilitation specialists, we will support each individual patient through a treatment plan that allows them to maximize their independence.

Our educational community-based day services program provides a curriculum-based training program tailored to meet the needs and desires of each person we serve. Through daily living skills training, group projects, volunteer opportunities, and work-like opportunities, we are supporting each person to be as independent as they wish to be.

Springboard programs allow the opportunity to work in groups in the community to learn life skills and have the opportunity to partner with businesses, schools, churches and other nonprofits for future success. Springboard programs are offered at many sites throughout Tazewell County.

Our internal mini-enterprise programs, like our Taste of TCRC Kitchen and Janitorial Custodial Services, allow people the opportunity to work in the community and build skills for sustained employment.

If you or your business is interested in partnering with TCRC for employment, catering services or custodial services, contact us at (309) 347-7148. You can also view our products and services at tcrcorg.com. Thank you to all of our partners!
